Move More Challenge 2022

I'm excited about the new year and a fresh new line in the sand to set new goals for improving my health.

I'm inviting you to join me this year in what I'm calling the Move More Challenge.

It's exactly what it sounds like. The challenge is to Move More.

The gyms are packed right now, trainers are booked, Amazon is delivering home gym equipment and that is awesome but for too many - ALL of that is beyond the realm of possibility.

As someone with complicated health issues, chronic pain and extra weight I know how hard this time of the year is.

I had weight that had piled on my frame and my spirit for so many reasons across a decade, so jumping into a huge goal was not realistic for me for a long time.

I'll be honest, stepping foot in the gym a few years ago made my skin crawl a little.

Anxious, self conscious, worrying about whether my body might give out, and endless swirling thoughts about whether to share my efforts or what people might think when I failed again, all kept me silent and depressed about the prospect of EVER getting healthier.

That was years ago.

I've made a lot changes.

Yes the changes are reflected on the tag in my clothes and on the scale, but the most important changes happened in my habits. They happened in my choices and in my mental health. It’s taking years to create a new lifestyle and new habits, and it’s very hard when you don’t feel well physically, mentally or spiritually.

It’s not lazy. You are not lazy.

I worked hard, ran my business and chased my kids and grandkids and I felt wrecked at the end of every day.

When we went on vacation to our favorite place - Disney World - (duh) I was in my wheelchair and sometimes I had to use the scooters just to do my shopping.

This past November when we went to Disney World I walked the entire time.

20,000 steps everyday for 8 days. That my friends is life changing.

This challenge isn't about restrictions or working to exhaustion.

It isn't about setting weight goals.

This is about paying attention to how much you move already and seeing where you can add a little more.

As you move more and engage with others in the very same place you are - you're going to find yourself wanting to add purposeful movement. 5 to 10 minutes in your house. You might decide to dust off your bike and join us for a ride or come walk with us. It‘s a beginning, a new beginning.

If you join the Move More Challenge you'll be able to take advantage of the following:

  • You'll be added to the event via the Map My Run App.

  • I'll engage and encourage you all year long.

  • Engage and interact with all the participants at whatever level you are comfortable.

  • Receive weekly accountability and inspiration in The Real Sisterhood FB group and on the Page.

  • Weekly discussions around meal planning, calories and avoiding diet traps.

  • Set goals of 100, 250, 500, 750, or 1000 miles for the year.

  • Helping others reach their goals and finding the support they need.

Above all else, at the end of the year you will have moved more and created new awareness and new habits that will help propel you to the next level.

Lifestyle changes that stick. Not diets, no unrealistic plans.
